The fine imposed by the Superintendencia de Competencia (SC) to DELSUR, CAESS and AES-CLESA enterprises for anti-competitive practices is ridiculous.
This is the position exposed today in a press conference by representatives of different social organizations that support the campaign: "Desconectemos los altos precios de la luz (Let's unplug the high prices of electricity)" - including the CDC.
According to its final resolution of the Executive Committee of the SC, the fine that these enterprises will have to pay, for violating the article 30 of the Ley de Competencia, comes to 247,08 dollars. However, that amount is just an insignificant part of the millions that these companies receive yearly as a profit.
Members of this network, that integrates more than 50 social organizations, agreed that the fine, generally speaking, is good news, although it is not an exemplary measure; also, they emphasized the strong contrast that exists if we compare the diligence of the SC in the resolution of a problem among enterprises, and the lack of agility or will that exists in the Superintendencia de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones (SIGET) about stopping the abuses that these very same enterprises commit against the consumers.
Also, they explained that will continue promoting actions of pressure which purpose is to make enterprises of distribution of electricity fulfill the recently approved modifications to the Electricity Law.
Among the planned activities, it stands out a gathering outside SIGET offices on September 27 and they made a calling to citizens to support this kind of measures which only purpose is to reduce the high prices of electricity.
